Who are we?

We are a not-for-profit organisation started by local community activists including refugees to support the local disadvantaged groups in Derby. We want to help our diverse community by responding to their basic needs (food, clothing, furniture) and also by offering accredited courses that will offer new skills and build confidence to create employment opportunities. As a social enterprise we also provide office space, conference/meeting room, and kitchen space to be used by other groups/organisations based on affordable rental costs.

About FEE

The Food and Education Enterprise (FEE) started in September 2013. A group of community minded people have come together to provide opportunities and raise aspirations among some of Derby's most marginalised groups including refugees and other unemployed people. This is an enterprise that is set up by the community for the community. The Directors have a vision to see barriers broken down and to see individual and group confidence grow. We have taken a leap of faith by hiring a venue and using our own finance to get FEE off the ground.

Since January 2014 many voluntary hours have already been completed to refurbish the building at Osmaston Road and complete applications to relevant funding bodies. We have already successfully teamed up with British Red Cross, Foundation Derbyshire, Community Action Derby, ESF Community Grants, Fareshare, UnLtd (supporting social entrepreneurs) and UK Online Centres, to begin rolling out courses, workshops, and services that we hope will change lives and in turn change our communities for a better future. We are currently looking to expand our partnership work with other local/regional organisations and groups in Derby and Midlands to reach for more people in need of our services.
